Sub-project C01 is led by Prof. Frank Dehn (Concrete Structures & Building Materials, KIT). The focus is on material-technological characterisation related to the thermal, moisture, and fire protection behaviour of fungal composites produced by F. fomentarius when cultivated on hemp, spruce, and beech substrate particles.
The project systematically explores various modifications to enhance the thermal material behaviour of F. fomentarius composites and develops methods that can control their moisture-, and fire-related characteristics.
The sub-project is carried out in close collaboration with B02, B03, C01, and C02, and provides data on thermal, hygric, and flammability performance to A01 – A07.
