The Service Project (S) is run by Prof. Vera Meyer and Prof. Harald Kruggel-Emden. It is essential to provide a consistent supply of plant substrates and fungal biomass for inoculation, both in terms of quality and quantity, and to guarantee the development and application of standardised protocols for pretreatment, cultivation, and posttreatment.
It assures enough agricultural and forestry substrates of defined composition, shape and size, and their standardised treatment for storage and fungal cultivation. It produces sufficient quantities of composites needed as test samples, prototypes and demonstrators as part of a controlled and optimised manufacturing process.
It ensures that all sub-projects of Project Areas A, B, and C and the Science Communication Project can focus on their scientific questions and work with reproducibly treated substrates and reproducibly produced fungal composites.
