AI-based resource availability assessment model for the growth of raw materials for fungal composites

Sub-project A09 is run by Prof. Annette Rudolph (AI and Land Use Change, TUB). An AI-based climate model is developed to assess the availability of resources for the production of fungal composites.

The growth of agricultural and forestry resources for composites is highly dependent on climatological changes in the water cycle and temperature. The occurrence of extreme events (long droughts, extreme precipitation) plays a crucial role. An AI model is implemented that combines trends in weather extremes and hydrological data with climate-induced land use changes to determine the most suitable regions for growing raw materials for fungal composites.

Sub-project A09 is carried out in close collaboration with A02 and A05 and provides input to C03 on resource availability for life-cycle assessments (LCA).
